
Headwaters School of Music & The Arts offers high quality visual arts programs for children and adults in an exciting range of disciplines. Through hands-on experience, students learn to combine practical, theoretical, and critical skills to develop their own unique voices as artists, creators, and arts enthusiasts. Classes are studio-based in well-equipped facilities and are taught by accomplished artists and educators.

Ages 7-18. Cost is $50 a monthly session.
Register for the full season or by the Month! This class will start January11 and go through May 16.
This workshop will be an on-going puppetry experience that will explore hand and rod puppets as well as toy and shadow theatre. We will fill our tool bags with the basics of manipulation to include breath, gesture, and timing. Through games of movement, chance, and improvisation, our stories will come alive.
We will also learn how to plan and build simple puppets and props. A monthly informal workshop perforamnce will be scheduled as a final theatre festival in May.

Introduction to Tapestry Weaving
This is a new workshop at the Headwaters School of Music & the Arts led by Kristin Majkrzak, local fabric artist.
This introductory course teaches the fundamentals of tapestry weaving. Instructor will provide a basic frame loom for each participant, and participants will learn:
*how to put a warp on the loom
*Basic weaving techniques using one color and then adding other colors to increase design possibilities.
*Techniques of color mixing and creating shapes.
*Finishing methods to protect and enhance the work when it is taken off the loom.
This workshop will be held during 2 sessions: Friday, February 3 from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Saturday, February 4 from 9:00am-4:00pm (noon lunch break). Saturday, February 11 from 9:00am-4:00pm (noon lunch break).
Cost of the entire workshop is $75.00

Beginner's Pottery Classes: Join Tom Daly in our art room for an afternoon of creativity. Tom will lead you through the techniques in the use of clay making projects using coil, slab, and pinch methods. Additionally, included in this class is an introduction to wheel throwing.
This class is on Monday afternoons.
Ages 8-13: from 4:15pm-5:30pm.
Ages 14-Adults: from 6:30pm-8:00pm.
Cost of class is $55/month.
First Session will start January 9, 16, 23, 30.
Second Session will start February 6, 13, 20, 27.
Third Session will start March 5, 12, 19, 26.
Fourth Session will be April 4, 11, 18, 25.
The Abstract Experience for Beginners
This workshop will be led by Shannon Lucas Westrum at the Headwaters School of Music & the Arts.
Participants will be creating abstract paintings using experimentation of techniques and mediums. Each participant will use their own easel, canvas, pallet, brushes, etc.
Shannon will lead the participants in demonstrating techniques and various mediums, and allow them to experiment as they work.
The workshop will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 10am-12noon, and 1pm-4pm at the Headwaters School of Music & the Arts.
Cost is $40 a participant.
