
Headwaters School of Music & The Arts offers high quality visual arts programs for children and adults in an exciting range of disciplines. Through hands-on experience, students learn to combine practical, theoretical, and critical skills to develop their own unique voices as artists, creators, and arts enthusiasts. Classes are studio-based in well-equipped facilities and are taught by accomplished artists and educators.
Beginner's Watercolor Class
Learn basic watercolor techniques as a fun, creative outlet. This has been a most popular class with beautiful results!

Create fun clothing accessories, jewelry, and art out of simple, reusable items!

Beginner's Watercolor Collage: Saturday, October 16 from 10am-3pm
Beginner's Acrylic Collage: Fridays, December 3 & 10 from 1:00pm-3pm.
Cost per workshop is $45 and all supplies are included.
Details: These workshops will use washes and several types of collage from magazines, papers, and napkins to complete paintings. Students will learn about focal point, importance of light and dark, and texture with watercolor, salt, spattering, dripping, etc.
When participants are done with the workshop, they will have a completed painting that they can take home and frame!
Beginner's Clay Classes: Join Tom Daly in our art room for an afternoon of creativity. Tom will lead you through the techniques in the use of clay making projects using coil, slab, and pinch methods. Additionally, included in this class is an introduction to wheel throwing.
Ages 8-13: from 4:15pm-5:30pm.
Ages 14-Adults: from 6:30pm-8:00pm.
Cost of class is $55/month.
First Session: Mondays, October 4, 11, 18, & 25.
Second Session: Mondays, November 1, 8, 15, & 22.
Christina Thorne, local owner of a small gift boutique in downtown Bemidji, has been making one of a kind, designer jewerly for several years. She has taught "Jewelry 101" at our school twice with a full class each time.
Jewelry 101 offers participants a general knowledge of proper tool selection and use; know protective safety procedures; and learn basic stranding and wire linking techniques.
Cost of the class is $45/participant.
Intermediate Wire Working Techniques: This class focuses on simple wire links as well as wire wrap links. Christina will teach techniques on making clasps from wire, a basic free form wire wrap (to make a found object, like a stone, into a pendant, and other useful tips on wire working.
All supplies will be available from the artist.
