The Headwaters School of Music & the Arts works daily toward fulfilling this mission. In September of 1992, the school opened in Bemidji, offering private music lessons with 7 teachers for 72 students. In 1997, our organization purchased the current location at 519 Minnesota Avenue in Bemidji and we became a full-service community school of the arts. Because of incredible community support in the form of time, materials, expert advice, and monetary gifts, the building is now a place to experience a wide variety of arts activities ranging from orchestra concerts and children’s productions to clay, mural painting, and other fine arts.
We offer a full schedule of private lessons, group classes, and workshops in a variety of art and music disciplines. Classes are designed to enrich the arts education of school children and to unlock the creative potential of teens and adults. Both the experienced artist and the enthusiastic novice will find exciting opportunities at Headwaters School of Music & the Arts.
Headwaters School of Music & the Arts is a private non-profit school with a 501(c)3 charitable organization designation. We are supported not only through tuition from our programs, but also through grants from various arts organizations and agencies, and memberships and contributions from the community.
Headwaters School of Music & the Arts is committed to offering arts access for everyone, and financial aid programs are available.
We welcome you to contact us and join our family of talented individuals, eager students, and appreciators of the fine arts.
Headwaters School of Music & Arts offers accessible space for both our private classes and our public performances.
In 2007, Headwaters School of Music & the Arts launched an access site in Clearbrook, MN. This access site is not only a necessary component of our mission to offer music education to all who seek it; it plays an integral role in the growth of the community. Because of its location, busy families in the broader community don’t have to worry about driving a long distance to reach the main facility.
The Clearbrook site is located at 256 2nd Avenue SW, and can be contacted at (218) 776-2789.
